The first stage of designing logo includes the process of sketching a logo design and second step includes giving extra effect to the logo design. As the first step, open up the Photoshop and start a new file. Then Select the shape tool from the toolbox and create a shape for the background of your logo.
In the third step add a text on the top of the logo using the type tool from the toolbox. Now you will have two layers in the file and can see it in the Layer palette.

In the fourth step, merge both the layers using the “Merge Visible” from the layer menu. Now you will only see one layer called as background in the layer palette. Then, right click on the background layer and select “Layer from Background”. Give a name to the layer and click ok. After this you will get one layer for the logo and then you can apply as many effects you want to the layer.

Give an Effect to the logo

Bevel and Emboss is the easiest and most effective effect to give to any logo. There are certain steps you need to do to give a good looking effect to your logo.

First > Go to Layer menu and select “Layer Style” and  the choose “Bevel and Emboss”. Now Select the style of bevel and emboss you prefer and use other attributes to get the desired effect. Then you can use the Shading option to give desired shading to your emboss effect. Click on “Contour” and change the contour setting according to your range and look you want to give the logo. Finally choose the “Texture icon and create a pattern and change the scale and depth of the text. After giving some effect you can now have a good looking logo ready on your screen.
